"The Sound of One Clown Laughing."
My really short story of:
How I came to be a One Clown Laughing--
Mostly when I would show up for Laughing Yoga and no one else was there! So I would suck it up and start laughing anyway.
And I noticed the results were the same. I got the same benefits whether I laughed with others or by myself. In One Clown, there is no need for something or someone to make us laugh. We learn to be proactive, rather than always reactive. We learn that all laughter arises from Emptiness as does all manifestation. "It is the Nothing, the Mystery, the Emptiness alone that needs to be realized: not known but felt, not thought but breathed, not an object but an atmosphere, not a lesson but a life."
-Ken Wilber
When we can learn to laugh for no reason we can do many other things for no reason as well. We won't always have to be inventing reasons for our actions, moods, wants or desires.
We learn we can laugh for no reason, which can restore our reason and sanity. It is the non-dual laughter; based on nothing. And nothing is fundamental but not significant! Life is realized as empty and meaningless; and that it is empty and meaningless that it is empty and meaningless! Nothing is the ground of being and there is plenty of it! Nothing doesn't care if you laugh at it!
It's in the cat's nature to meow and the dog's to bark. It is in human nature to laugh. Paraphrasing A Course in Miracles, "[Laughter is] natural. When [it] doesn't occur something has gone wrong." Which give us a good way to calibrate our moods, emotions and feelings. Feel like laughing right now?
We can call this the Laugh Gap. How far away are we from having a good laugh right now?
